Associate projects, programs, and portfolios to strategic goals
While you can define the relationships top down from the strategic goals to the portfolio, program, and project, which we collectively refer to as the delivery initiatives, some organisations do it from the bottom up by associating the initiative with the appropriate goals.
Here are a few rules to remember when associating or disassociating a benefit or a goal:
- Each initiative, whether a project, program or a portfolio, can be associated with multiple goals while still adhering to the rule that a specific benefit can be associated with only a single initiative.
- You will use the Portfolio area, if you are associating a portfolio or program with a goal, and you will use Project area to associate a project.
- Goals would be associated or disassociated using the same process using the Goals tab under Strategy within the delivery initiatives β portfolio, program, and project.
