Track progress using timesheets
Timesheets are used to record actual work performed across both project and non-project activities.
You should complete your timesheet regularly (typically daily) to ensure:
- Accurate tracking of time worked
- Alignment with project activities
- Compliance with organisational policies
Timesheets contribute to actual resource work and reporting, and may also be used in financial tracking if integrated with project financials.
Where This Is Performed
- Work → My Timesheets (or Current Timesheet)
Completing a Timesheet
- Navigate to Work → Current Timesheet
- Confirm the correct Timesheet Period:
- Use the date picker or navigation arrows if required
- Enter the number of hours worked in each cell for:
- Project tasks, and
- Non-project activities
- Optionally add comments using the comment icon for each entry
Tip:
Add comments when clarification is needed (e.g. unusual hours, overtime, or specific activities).
Adding Non-Project Time
- Click + Add → Non-Project Time
- Select the appropriate category (e.g. training, leave)
- Enter hours for each time period
Adding Project Work
Project-related work is typically pre-loaded based on assigned tasks.
If additional tasks are required:
- Speak with your Project Manager to ensure tasks are added to the project
Tip:
Once tasks are updated, click Refresh / Load default tasks to bring them into your timesheet.
You can also:
- Use + Add → Project Tasks to include future or missing tasks
- Enter hours against those tasks in the current timesheet period
Saving and Submitting Your Timesheet
- Save
- Records your progress
- Allows you to continue updating your timesheet
- Submit for Approval
- Sends your timesheet to your Timesheet Manager
- Triggers the approval process
Important:
Even if your organisation uses auto-approval, you must still click Submit for Approval to finalise your timesheet.
After Submission
Once submitted:
- Your Timesheet Manager reviews and approves the timesheet
- Approved entries become part of your actual recorded work
Important:
Approved timesheets contribute to:
- Resource reporting
- Actual effort tracking
- Financial tracking (if actuals are imported into project financials)
Viewing Your Timesheets
- Select My Timesheets from the command bar to view all periods
- You can navigate between past and current timesheets
Tip:
If using Altus in Microsoft Teams, you can access your timesheets directly from the app to reduce context switching.
