Maintain project documents in the collaboration space
The Documents tab within a project provides a central location for storing, organising, and collaborating on project-related files.
Document collaboration is enabled through integration with Microsoft 365, allowing teams to manage files within familiar tools such as Microsoft Teams and SharePoint.
Important Prerequisite
Before document collaboration is available:
- A Microsoft 365 Group must be associated with the project
- Once associated, the project gains access to its dedicated collaboration space
This connection enables document storage, sharing, and co-authoring capabilities.
Accessing Project Documents
- Open the required Project
- Navigate to the Documents tab
From here, you can view and manage all project-related documents.
Document Storage Structure
The Documents area typically includes:
- Group Documents – Files stored within the Microsoft 365 group (shared collaboration space)
- Additional Documents – Other project-related files stored within Altus
This structure supports both collaborative and supplementary document management.
Working with Documents
Once a Microsoft 365 Group is linked, documents can be managed through:
Microsoft Teams
- Access the dedicated project Team and channel
- Upload, edit, and collaborate on files in real time
- Maintain conversations alongside documents
SharePoint
- Access the associated SharePoint site (if enabled)
- Organise files using folders and metadata
- Manage permissions and version history
Opening Collaboration Spaces
From the project, you can directly access:
- Open in Teams – Launch the project’s Teams workspace
- Open in SharePoint – Open the associated document library
These options provide quick access to the full collaboration experience.
How to Use This Feature
Use the Documents area to:
- Centralise all project-related files
- Enable real-time collaboration across teams
- Maintain document version control and structure
- Ensure consistent access through a shared workspace
