Set up and maintain external projects

The External Projects view provides a consolidated list of all projects that are linked to external execution tools (e.g. Microsoft Project, Planner).

This view allows administrators to quickly identify and review integrations across the portfolio, without needing to open individual projects.

Accessing External Projects

  1. Navigate to Settings
  2. Locate the Project Sync section
  3. Select External Projects

This view displays all projects currently linked to an external system.

Understanding the External Projects View

Each row represents a linked project and includes:

  • External Project
    • The name of the project in the external system
  • Project
    • The corresponding project record in Altus
  • External System
    • The connected execution tool (e.g. Microsoft Project, Planner, Planner Premium)
  • Is Primary
    • Indicates whether this is the primary external system connection for the project

How This View Is Used

Use the External Projects view to:

  • Identify all projects integrated with external execution tools
  • Confirm which external system is linked to each project
  • Validate whether the correct primary system is assigned
  • Support troubleshooting and governance of integrations

Key Considerations

  • Projects may have one or more external system links, depending on configuration
  • The primary external system is typically treated as the main source of execution data
  • This view is read-only for monitoring and validation purposes (configuration changes are managed through External Systems and project linking processes)

Tips

  • Use this view regularly to ensure external integrations remain aligned
  • Check the Is Primary field to confirm correct system ownership
  • Use this as a quick validation step when troubleshooting sync issues
